- See if disconnecting the monitor's USB cable (and thus disabling the USB ports on the side of the monitor) work (not acceptable but just want to see if it affects it). - Check to see if there are any more recent Intel video drives or HP monitor drivers. RESOLVED - finally found the solution. For anyone else with this issue disabling the following settings should work: Go to Device Manager, network adapters and find the ethernet one. - right click for properties - advanced. Disable Energy efficient ethernet (and or green energy) and Wake on magic packet.
The backlit USB keyboard will turn on and off. I may get a warning on the computer that the USB port isn’t working. The display on the laptop screen will shrink and then return to full size.
